How to Find Reserved Course Materials
Answer
You can use the Library Catalog to see if a particular material is on reserve in the Library.
Open the Library Catalog and sign in with your GSU username and password (do not include @student.govst.edu in the username).
Once you’re signed in, navigate to “Course Reserves” in the task bar at the top. Click “Course Reserves”
This will bring you to the Course Reserves search. Here you can search or browse the materials on reserve using search terms in the search bar.
If you know the name or title of the material you’re looking for, you can enter it into the search bar. If you don’t know the name or title, you can enter search terms into the bar and browse the results. Once you’ve entered your terms into the search bar click the magnifying glass.
Look through the results and see if the material you’re looking for is listed. If it is listed, record (on your phone or a piece of paper) either the title or the call number.
If you don’t find what you’re looking for you can try the following things:
- Check and make sure your search terms are correct
- Change your search terms or use the advanced search
- Try looking in the whole catalog to see if it isn’t on reserve
- See if it is available in the GSU collection or through I-Share or ILL

Once you have the title or call number recorded, bring that record and your OneCard to the circulation desk in the University Library. Tell one of the workers at the desk that you’d like to checkout something on reserve. Tell them the title or the call number and show them your OneCard, the worker will find the material for you and help you check it out.
Please remember that reserved materials have different loan periods than the main collection. The loan periods for materials on reserve are predetermined and will be one of three periods:
- 2-hour loan (in-library use only)
- 3-day loan
- 7-day loan
Please return all reserved materials by their due date. 2-hour loans can be returned to the circulation desk at the end of their check-out period and multi-day loans can be returned using the book drops or brought to the circulation desk.
