Requesting Materials Through I-Share

Answer

Sometimes when you are looking for a specific material, there will not be a copy in the GSU collection. In those cases, you are going to want to check to see if the material is available through I-Share.

Open the Library Catalog and sign in with your GSU username and password (do not include @student.govst.edu in the username).

Once you are signed in, click on the drop box in the search bar and select “All I-Share Libraries.” This will allow you to search all the materials available through I-Share.

After selecting “All I-Share Libraries” enter your search terms and click the search button.

Once you have entered the search, the results will appear. Look through the results to see if the material you are looking for is there.

If you do not find the material, you are looking for you can:

  • Check to make sure the information you entered in the search bar is correct
  • Change your search terms
  • Make an ILL request (link here)

If you do find the material, select the title of the material you want request.

Note: If the material you are looking for is an individual journal article, you will want to use the Interlibrary Loan Request form. For instructions on making Interlibrary Loan Requests please see Requesting Materials Through ILL

After selecting the material, the catalog entry will come up. In the catalog entry find the section titled “How to get it” click on I-Share. Clicking on it will bring up the I-Share form.

The I-share form auto-populates the materials information as well as selecting the GSU Library as the default pickup location. Check the information on the form to make sure it is correct. Once you’ve verifying all the information in the form is correct, click “Send Request”

It will take time to process the request, receive the requested materials, and ready them for pick-up. When the materials arrive and are ready for pick-up, you will receive an email notification.

After you receive the email notification, go to the Circulation desk in the GSU Library and inform the worker at the desk that you have materials ready for pick-up. Present your OneCard to the worker and they will retrieve your materials and aid you in checking the materials out.
